About Inis Fada Golf Club

History

The Club was founded in the mid 1980's out of B.K.Sweeney's in Bethpage, NY. The founding fathers were Syl Nugent and Connie Doolan. They broke away from another golf club and formed Inis Fada which is Gaelic for Long Island.

Club Officers

We have Captains that manage the weekly player attendance and a Board of Directors who ensure the club is in compliance with MGA rules and requirements and general oversight of the clubs’ activities.

Schedule

We play golf every Wednesday starting in May and going through to October. While not club tournaments, some members also play on Monday's and Friday's. These play days are identified when back in Sweeney's following tournament play on Wednesday.

Tournaments

Members must play in at least two of the first five tournaments of the year to qualify for the Scratch Tournament. The two best scores of the first five tournaments will be used for qualification and seeding. The top 16 golfers from these two rounds will qualify for the Club Championship.

All members will qualify for the Handicap Tournament. Handicap and Scratch champions from the previous year will qualify and are automatically seeded number one. Cut off dates for the bracket rounds will be adhered to, but can be extended if approved by a vote of the Board.
